Media Player 11 Not playing DVDs

Dell DIMENSION 8200
July 28, 2009 at 08:37:49
Specs: Windows XP Home, p4 512kb
We recently reinstalled the Operating Systems from scratch. Now Media Player won't play DVDs. It says a decoder is missing and the links to the missing decoder is no longer a freely downloadable item as in the past. Where can I down load the missing items I need to get Media Player 11 to work??

It doesn't have to be this difficult

You can get a free...small dvd player at

VLC works like a charm

I dont use Media Player anymore since using VLC. it seems to have codecs for any file type I "throw" at it. yep...VLC is the way to go.

I got Real Player and Media Player to work by installing
the PowerDVD software that came with the computer.
I am installing VLC on the Kubuntu/Linux side of the
computer though

It doesn't have to be this difficult
