I am having problems with a compaq pc...I ran sfc /scannow and it wants to repair some files but I don't have any disks for it...it never came with any. All I have are 2 system restore disc's that I burned when I got it, and they don't work. It will only ask for the proper disc...it won't let me change it to point to the recovery partition of the hard drive or anything.

I was wondering if there is a place where I could download the .cab files for media centre to be able to burn to disk or not?

No, no legal place. Why don't your restore disks work? Do you mean they aren't finding the correct files?

What prompted you to run sfc/scannow in the first place?

Are you running sfc/scannow from within Windows? Look at the link below.

Are the cab files on D:? If so there is a registry tweak the will allow you to point to them.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Setup\SourcePath to reflect the changed drive letter.
