I'm reinstalling Windows XP Media Center 2005 on this HP laptop. I don't have the original disc, but found what appears to be the legit HP OEM disc and am torrenting it. Anyway, I've installed dozens of copies of XP Home, Pro, 98... so I'm not a newbie, but I'm seeing some differences with this funky Media Center edition. Any tips on installing? I've got the HDD in my desktop now, repartitioned and formatted. Should I copy the i386 folder? Anything I should watch out for? Activation issues (I've got the COA and key, it's legit). Thanks guys, I'll be answering a few in the morning when I get on here.

Windows Media center has only been released as an Upgrade and not as a regular OEM installation disc. I have never tried to slipstream an upgrade version so don't know if it will install in the usuall way.
The branded manufacturer's use a sysprep process for installations of the operating system and can configure it to look back upon itself as the viable previous version for by-passing the upgrade validation check.
Other than that it should install the same as any other version.
