CPU/Ram: athlon xp 1600 356 ram

hi latley i receive this message when trying to play online media -

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").

i have no idea what this is but does anyone know how to fix this? i have tried reinstalling without luck! any help would be gr8!

What version of WMP are you running? Are you trying to open a file or a website? Can you be a little more specific?

hey sorry its media player 10. whenever i try to play for example a vid of music file streamed of the net i get that error
