ME won't install IE 6.0

I've perservered with IE 5.5 for the past two years despite several failed attempts to install IE 6.0. I have now bought a Notebook and Router and complexed the problem. The Router requires IE 6.0. My Compaq Notebook has XP installed. But I still need to use my ME on the older computer. Does anyone know how to fix for this problem, please?

Firstly, this is the XP Forum, but regardless, what happens when you try to install IE 6 on your ME machine? Do you get any errors? If so, what exactly?
