McAfee never quits installing

Specs: WinXP Pro SP2, 1.6Ghz/448ram

Everytime I log onto the internet, I seem to be downloading a McAfee VirusScan update that NEVER completes! The download does complete (gets to 100%), then the icon in the taskbar (a yellow arrow that moves downward against a green background) keeps indicating that the update is still being installed and never finishes.

I'm used to getting these updates, but they usually finish in a few minutes...this can go on for hours and still not finishing! When I bring up my Windows Task Manager, it indicates that McAfee is running, and if I choose "End Task", then I get the audible "bell" and a window appears informing me that an Update for VirusScan has been downloaded and installed.

How can I check to see if something is actually installing? I can click "End Task" after a minute or after an hour with the same results.

Hope this made sense!

Maybe try starting an update manually to see if the results differ any?

When I go to the McAfee website and check for updates, I get a "Content Advisor" message/window stating that the website I'm trying to get to does not have a rating!?!?!?

Even when I put in my password and select the "Allow this website" option, I get nowhere...

What is a website "rating"? Can I turn this off to allow websites w/o ratings???

Thanks...this is driving me nuts!
