If you have Windows Update Q811493 with McAfee, then your system would slow down significantly.

This is a recognized problem, go to Add/Remove Programmes and uninstall this update.

Did you reboot?

I am convinced that 811493 is the problem, but you can always confirm this:-

If you have read the link above you will see that removing this update is no big deal.
This would not cause your computer to go through a 're-boot loop'.
That is a seperate issue.
You will also have read that having this update with your Anti-Virus programme would slow down your system. Your choice was to either uninstall the update, or uninstall your Anti Virus protection. Obviously, getting rid of the update was the sensible thing to do.
The syptoms you described were common, and many people have taken the advice offered in these pages to rectify the problem. None, to my knowledge, have reported not being able to reboot after uninstalling 811493.
Your reboot problem has nothing to do with removing this update.

Gary is right about uninstalling 811493. Are you saying that since you installed Mcafee that your system slowed down, and that it has never worked correctly with Mcafee? In that case you have two choices; contact Mcafee customer service to resolve the problem, or uninstall Mcafee and try another antiivirus program on a trial basis like; Norton, ETRUST, NOD32, SOLO or AVG(free).

Trust me McaFee is a load of crap, slows the PC down to much causes probs with e-mails to, that bad patch everyones on about I have it installed and my PC is ruuning very fast, I use Norton Antivirus and it is tons better than McaFee, I used McaFee and had a huge list of prblems, I installed Norton everything runs smoothly

Try using Norton and I be you will see a speed difference, the trouble with McaFee is it scan every file you click on, if you click on start, it scans it, open explorer it scans its, that is what causing your slowdown, Norton does scanning a much more efficient way without slowing your PC down even 1%

Goodluck

restart the machine while tapping F8 and start up with "last known configuration that worked, then remove 811493 again.
