Having major pop up adds and security pop up asking for allowance, (yes or no to trust different sites). I installed norton firewall to keep the add pop ups down but the security ones keep coming. Also, when I get into a game, norton does stop the pop ups but it still closes and crashes my game. The security pop ups didnt stop with norton though. Here is my hijack list.

iexplore.exe
taskmgr.exe
aim.exe
rundll32.exe
SNDSrvc.exe
wmiprvse.exe
alg.exe
nvsvc32.exe
spoolsv.exe
ccEvtMgr.exe
ccSetMgr.exe
svchost.exe (local)
svchost.exe (network service)
EM_EXEC.exe
svchost.exe (system)
msnmsgr.exe
ccApp.exe
mwsvm.exe
svchost.exe (system)
sstray.exe
lsass.exe
services.exe
winlogon.exe
csrss.exe
smss.exe
explorer.exe
symlcsvc.exe
System
System Idle Process

I have ran Ad-Aware and Spybot many times, but everything keeps coming back. I also deleted all of my cookies and temporary internet files. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I don't wanna format my computer once again. =(

If you really want to solve your problem just stop using IE. You should download either Mozilla or Opera and use that. Both are much more secure and if you go into their preferences, you can turn off pop-ups, javascripts, animated gifs, etc.

Welcome to the world of browser control.

Michael: to control pop-ups i use Pop-Up Stopper Free Edition from PanicWare at:

http://www.panicware.com/product_psfree.html

if there is a pop-up you want to see, press the Ctrl key and click again.

makes web browsing much smoother.

also turn off the Alerter Service;
to quote Hooner:
"Goto Start > Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services, scroll down until you see "Messenger" and right click on it. Select Properties and then in the "Startup Type" field select Disabled from the drop down menu and Apply. Right click on Messenger again and select Stop.
Don't worry, it's nothing to do with Windows Messenger or MSN, and will rid you of pop-ups. (Alerter service)"
