Just recently when I go to my email(outlook express) my norton anti-virus pops up and says malicious script detected. Then it asks what do you want to do? I put stop this script. What is this and how do I get rid of it? I've scanned my computer and don't have any viruses. Can anyone tell me what this is and what I should do about it?

well im not 100% sure, but some of the scripts running when you start XP are virus like, and your virus scanner detects they could be that of a virus
provided the problem isnt down to an attatchment which contains a virus, id say its ok to let the script run
when i intsall blueyonders help cd, i get the same problem, so obviously its ok sometimes

My SPAM filter for my email detects active X and documents as malicious. To give a reason, I believe it is because word and others can use macros, which can intern be a virus. So I use at my discression. If I know, and trust the email I ok it, otherwise I disable it. Another note, Norton AntiVirus isn't bulletproof. I reccomend using Norton in combination with Ad-Aware and SpyBot, both are free, and both are found at www.freeware.com. It will scan your PC for many things Norton doesn't. Such as Spyware, malicous code, etc... These programs will probably turn up some nasty programs you had no idea were installed! You should also get a firewall if you don't have one.
