Hi there

I would be on my comp as normal and all of sudden it would make the noise it makes when shutting down ( like a click off noise) , it keeps repeatin as if im turning on and off the computer.but the computer works as normal, if i bang the side of the comp it stops and works again.

Anybody got a clue as its really annoying

That clicking sound (if it's indeed from your HDD) may be the beginning of its very slow and painful demise.

Pop the cover to verify the source of the noise to be sure it is from the drive and run a manufacturer's diagnostic test on it.

For one thing, I'd stop the banging. :)

Is the clicking in the monitor? Or computer case.
IF in the case there can be a few things doing this.
1: cdrom, if there is a bad disk.
2: Floppy drive?
3: 2nd harddrive turning on and off.
4: could be a cooling fan.

What I would do is pull the side of the case off and wait forthe sound. Once you hear it, then listen closely and see if you can pin point the noise.
