ok...im now officially confused. should i make the recovery disk with the recovery disk creator now? or should i use destructive system restore first? for i want my recovery disk to recover the very first time i started my comp. so will the disk recover the present condition, or the very first condition my computer started. also its been 2 years i had my computer, and my comp has been attacked many times. wonder if the disk creator would make a currupted disk? please help,

The recovery disk has no data on it unless you actually MADE it per Compaq's instructions. If you're looking to "re-do" your computer (bring it back to 'out of box' condition) then do a destructive restore or use your Compaq System Restore disks if you got them. If not, use the F10 option at startup to enter the recovery console from Compaq. Choose Desructive restore and follow the onscreen instructions to complete it. Keep in mind that you should back up any files you want to keep as the hard drive will be deleted when you do the recovery.

yes yes, but my computer didnt come with the recovery disk, i need to make them with "compaq recovery disk creator" so will it just restore my computer from the first time it started? or will it record the present condition of my computer. why did compaq want me to create my recovery disk, waste of burnable disks.
also this might be off topic, but i realized a new problem. my desktop wont show any more files. in other words i need to delete or move some stuff out of my desktop before the new ones appear. and my desktop is not even half full. please help

The recovery disk creator will let you creat a backup copy of what was on the computer when it was new it will not copy anything that has been added since you bought it. It is a goood ideal to make it and store it some where incase you have a hard drive failure. It will only let you make 1 copy.
It is a good ideal to keep backup copy's of your data incase of a system failure. You can do a distrutive system restore from the hard drive unless you have a hard drive failure this will put the system back to the way it was new then just put your backup of your installed programs and data in and you will be should be good to go.

ohhh thank you, so recovery disk creator wont save any of the files and stuff. 1 more problem though. since its been 2 years how do i know it hadnt been currupted or stuff

Depending on your model Compaq, the recovery console is on a hidden partition accessible only by hitting F10 when you turn the computer on. It won't get corrupted because it is a protected file/partition. If however, you do not have the hidden partition and F10 does not work, you MUST aquire the recovery disk set from Compaq for your SPECIFIC model. You will need to contact HP/Compaq for the disks.
Like Srmotor said, you will need to create the recovery disk after doing the destructive recovery. Of course if you had to get the disk from HP/Compaq, you don't need to create anything.ASUS P5GD1
