I tried looking on sitesearch but no luck.Im looking for software that will let me put in a cd and it will change the songs into mp3 format and also label and seperate each track into its own mp3 file.I have Sound Forge which I like but I have long ago thrown away the cd covers and some cd's don't have the songs listed on them.Thanx everyone!!

Nero, Windows Media player will both do it. May I ask why you want mp3 format. WMA(windows media audio) makes just as good of sound with less file size then mp3. When I make them for my personal audio play with earphones that I have, wma format will get about twice as many songs in the same space.

Thanx for replying so fast.I guess I wanted mp3's because I always did it that way.I never thought about WMA but I am open to that suggestion with no problem.Maybe the only problem I would have with that is I'd like to be able to play them back thru Apples iTunes as most of the time when I listen to mp3's it on a commercial fishing boat in Alaska when we get out of range of XM Radio. They will only really be listened to on a laptop in the wheelhouse and possibly my ipod so I was hoping to play them back on iTunes.I will try it anyway just to see if they will play back on iTunes. Thanx for the suggestion!!!

Unless you're not going to listen to them on anything but a Windows PC, use MP3. WMA is a nice format, but is supported by almost nothing.
The best and easiest way is to get CDex. It's the best CD ripper available, and completely free. Download and install it. Using it is pretty simple. Put a CD in and click the button with the magnifying glass to search for album information on the Internet. Next click the button with the sprocket to get to the settings.
Here you'll want to change some settings to get a good quality vs space tradeoff. On the Encoder tab change Min Bitrate to "192 kbps" and change the Quality setting to "High (q=2)". Make sure the "On the fly MP3 encoding" box is checked. On the Filename tab you can change the format it uses to name the files and the location it saves them to (My Music in My Docs) if you want.
Finally, select the tracks you want (CTRL+A for all) and click the second button from the top to extract them all to MP3 files. Check the website if you have more questions.

Thanx domass and Dr Nick.I will check out Cdex.I solved my dilemna.I was listening to iTunes music on my computer when I loaded a cd to try and rip with windows media player. Just as I was going to minimize iTunes its page changed and up popped my cd tracks all named and seperated in to numbered tracks and a button asking me if I wanted to import songs. So I tried it and it ripped the songs into seperate named song mp3 files. It took less than five minutes per cd to do it.Thanx again for your suggestions.
