Making CDROM first boot device in BIOS

Hello,
Something weird is happening when I try to install XP. I did an fdisk and format c: /s and then I went into the BIOS and set my cdrom to boot first so that when the comp booted, the install would start. The problem is that my cdrom will not boot first. The cdrom is working fine but I just don't know what else to do to get it working. Oh, I also tried to do the install from the I386 dir but it just freezes up. How do I get my cdrom to boot from startup? Do I need some kind of miracle boot disk or what? Any help would be life saving!

What is the drive configuration on your PC? I had a similar situation of not getting the CD to be the boot device. For what ever reason I had to move it to the second IDE slot and make it a master, then it would work. :-)

I have it set to secondary master. I guess I'll try setting it as primary slave and see if that works.
