Hi,
Regarding my previous post about the Quantum and Segate hard drives, can I manually make a boot.ini file to replace the original one?

Yes you can, I'd copy the current boot.ini to a temp folder the edit the original to suit using wordpad it might be write protected so you might have change the attributes of the file your current Boot.ini might look something like this: (beware of linewrap) [boot loader] timeout=5 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Media Center Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn you might try editing to somthing like this: [boot loader] timeout=5 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Media Center Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect
