Ok I've opened my old computer...opened my new computer...plugged in the cable marked slave and it's now connected to my old hardrive and new hardrive. I set the pins on the old one to create a SLAVE drive. I rebooted and there's no extra hard drive showing. I turned off computer flipped the pin thingy on the other end (thinking I had it backwards for the SLAVE drive) and rebooted....still no extra hard drive shows. What am I doing wrong? My old computer is a Compaq and my new one is a HP. Does that matter?

hi there,
Try check your bios setting to see weither the detection for slave been set to 'AutoDetect' or not.Sometime the default setting is 'Disabled'.
You can try to set the jumper at the harddisk to 'Cable select' to see seither system can detect or not.
Hope it helps
