You have a recovery disk that should be bootable and an hp boot disk. So what are you trying to do?

You cannot use the recovery disc from HP to make a reliable bootdisc for XP. More than likely the I386 files have been altered or removed so it will only be for your model of computer.

using it with 98se computer will b eable to boot up because it uses a dos program to run a restore operation. But the embedded driver files will work only on the model that the restore disc was originally made for. If it is a disc borrowed from someone else then I strongly advise not to use it on your computers.

The single disc that you received with your computer is a restore disc for that model only. Just insert it in and follow the directions that it gives you to restore your computer back to original condition.

A lot of computers are not supplied with restore discs anymore as they have a restore partition on the harddrive. I suggest that you first contact the manufacturer and see what instructions they have for restoring.
