Comment:
Every time I use the System Configuration Utility to get rid of unwanted startup programs, I get an annoying message informing me that I've used it to change the way Windows starts, yadda yadda. At the bottom of of the message is a box I can check that reads: "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows start". I always check the box yet still does this stupid message always pop up, again with the option to make it stop annoying me available. Any ideas as to how to permanently silence this darn message?

After foolin' around in MSConfig, and re-starting, as you know, these 2 windows come up:
1 - "You are using..." yada-yada
2 - MSConfig opens up againIn Window #2, if you don't want to make any changes, click CANCEL!!! instead of OK...otherwise... !!!!

You don't necessarily have to click on Cancel , OK is fine, but before you do that you must make the checkmark in the box on the first window, and don't click on the X top right.
The second screen will not appear. If you make no changes in Msconfig before the next boot, the windows will not appear.
If you make any changes in Msconfig after that, the two windows just will appear again the next boot. If you even look at settings in the second window, you will be prompted to reboot - clicking on the X or OK or Cancel won't prompt you.

Tubesandwires -- Of course! I stand corrected!
In reviewing my earlier post, I see now how it is bound to be interpreted, and it most certainly would not resolve the OP's dilemma, quite the contrary. Sheesh! Wish I could take that back!!
It's fortunate you laid it all out so much clearer. Thx. The "...If you even look at settings in the second window..." is a most important point.

Good pointer The_Oracle.
"Sheesh! Wish I could take that back!! "
You can always use the edit feature Justin the webmaster has added to make corrections to your own posts. I use that a lot. However, if you add a link to a url you have to add the same stuff before and after the link that the software otherwise does (to make the display of the link shorter), or the post won't be accepted.
