Sure,

Bios is a memory area, could use old dos tools to access that memory area and copy to file,

Bios is normally accessed by a program, there are many, some might be on OEM site that built system.

As for system could use all sorts of tools, Consider ntbackup so you could use anyone's xp disk if you saved system state.

Could use all sorts of ghost or acronis or dd or g4u or partimage or others.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
