for windowsxp you will have to download the boot disk from the following url:
Home edition, paste this link: http://download.microsoft.com/download/WinXPHome/Install/310994/WIN98MeXP/EN-US/WinXP_EN_HOM_BF.EXE
Pro edition, paste this link: http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/310994/WIN98MeXP/EN-US/WinXP_EN_PRO_BF.EXE

I read a tip somewhere that you can right click on your floppy drive in My Computer to find an option to create a startup disk, but I'm not using XP yet so I can't check to be sure.

Right Clicking on the A drive doesn't work, & those links are for making several install disks, not a single bootable floppy like in windows 98. I'm not sure if it is possible to get or make a true XP bootable floppy, but the windows 98 boot disk will still bring you to a dos prompt.
Hope this helps.

I just found this at Microsoft support. To create an MS-DOS startup disk in Windows XP, insert a formatted floppy disk into the floppy disk drive, double-click My Computer, right-click your floppy disk drive, click Format, click Create an MS-DOS startup disk, and then click Start.
