Comment:

I am trying to install a simple Flash PLayer from the macromedia site. I've done this many times, and it only takes a few seconds. When I click on the install button, it says it is "successfully installed" yet when I try to run a program using it, it says I need to install Flash. Also, it does not show up under add/remove programs...

any ideas?

I have Shockwave Flash 6.0 r47 installed for my Netscape browser. It is not added into Add/Remove Programs, but as a Plug-in for my browser.
File name for the Plugin is: npswf32.dll

If I want to remove Flash from my browser, I would Delete that file, and restart my browser.

Interesting. I don't use Netscape other than FF & IE and there is Macromedia Flash Player 8 in my AR program.

Good Morning NYC--
After thinking with my decaying brain, my Flash came with my Netscape. I have not installed it from the Web in some time.
So junk my last reply.

NYC--
More info--
I do not like Acrobat Reader opening in my browser, when I click a PDF file on the web.
So what I do is Delete the Plugin link to Reader. I think that is nppdf.dll

Interesting ?

Well, my point was that I rather save PDF files to My Documents,
rather than viewing while surfing.

Gotcha - I never open PDF files while surfing the net. I simply right click to save the PDF to disk. Are we on the save wavelength now?

AH, sounds like a plan. I should right click, instead of left click, and a box coming up for what to do with it.

When I right click over a PDF file link, I select Save Target As. It always work.

Chase817-
Maybe the problem is that you need the latest Flash instead of the simple Flash.

Also, Some websites assume we all have High Speed Internet, and Plugins may not respond fast enough for Dialup connections. Frequently on Yahoo I get a popup box saying that some Plugin is too slow, and not responding fast enough.

I do believe that the Macromedia in the Add or Remove Programs also removes the browser plug in.

Yeah I have the exact same problem with flash Chase187. I have adsl but I use this random ip app not that I think it matters.. I did a repair install of xp a while back but apparently some file associations are still cr*p, or not, I really have no clue what to do.
