i have been told that there is two mac addresses on my new conputer . that is why i can not stay connected for any length of time .. does anyone know how to fix this problem . any questions would help

open your network connections and disable the wireless connection if yoou don't need it.

or disable your local network connection if u intent to connect via wlan

Your mac addresses usually have nothing to do with your dropping connectivity. Sounds like a "get you off the phone" kind of answer.

Might want to post what is happening here so you can get more insight into what may be happening and how to correct it.

Actually there are a few MACs. The modem is probably the one most people associate a MAC with. An Ethernet card has one. So does a modem hooked to a USB port.

Here's all the MACs that I see when I display my cable modems status page:

HFC MAC Address
Ethernet IP Address
Ethernet MAC Address
CM USB IP Address
CM USB MAC Address 1
CPE USB MAC Address

I left out the actual addresses, btw.

thanks for the come backs everyone .. they had to put a new ethernet card in my new computer, said they couldn,t figure out why there was two address on the same computer .. doesn,t happen too often they say .. is up and running now :) thanks again
