Hey there, I have a problem with my computer in which I can only access the internet through IP addresses and not URLs. THis is as far as microsoft tech support could get me. I believe I may have deleted some files through the "LSPfix" program. Let me know if you have any guidance towards this issue

Did you read the lspfix.txt file prior to running the LSPFix.exe? "Please do not check the "I know what I'm doing" box unless you really know what you're doing. This option is for advanced users only and is not necessary to repair your system".
What problems have you run into since running the LSPFix?

Yes what I did was stupid, yes i did use the cexx.org version. and as far as problems since I ran the fix well its hard to tell because my original problem was a "microsoft visual c++ runtime error" which microsoft tech support was capable of removing. Yet, the issue still remains that I cannot browse the internet w/ URLs.

Sorry about the redundant message above. I am a new user here and didn't realize the delay. So I tried the winsock repair and when I went to make a back up file for the registry the computer replied "WARNING Error Saving File C:/ERDNT/SECURITY !" what should I do, I tried making a different folder and it said the same thing

Timbermoe, I'd first create a new System Restore point (Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore), then open the Winsock XP Fix program and click the Fix button. This way you'll have a backup to revert to but hopefully you won't need it and the problem will be corrected.
