Specs: Windows XP
On start-up my wife's PC startup, it goes into 'preparing network connections' and then encounters an error box message as follows:

lsass.exe System Error
Object Name not found

There is no way of closing the error box and a stright reboot encounters the same prtoblem. Can anyonme suggest an easy way out of this please?

Googling for “sass.exe System Error Object Name not found” without the quotes produce many hits. Two are below.

Boot to safe mode.

Use command line to access each users Directory and Settings folder. Use command attrib. If it returns lsass.exe then rename it. You have a virus. If not then get copy of known good lsass.exe and replace it it sys32 folder.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
