Hi
My pc keeps crashing (lsass.exe code 1073741819) It is not the sasser virus! I scanned with 3 diff tools. My windows is updated. My anit virus is updated. Can anyone help?

Hi,

If the name is in upper caps "LSASS.EXE" then it's from Microsoft = no problem.

If it's in lower caps "lsass.exe" then it's the Sasser virus.

alot of people had this problem, it is not a virus. "A buffer overrun is the cause of an issue affecting many versions of Windows to include NT, 2000, XP and 2003. The main indication of this is a 60 second shutdown counter just after connecting to the internet or "right after" an attack attempt. "Strange" network activity while you are not downloading or surfing is another key factor. "

from what i heard if you update your patches, u shouldnt have the problem. however u can stop ur computer from automatcially rebooting. start/run/shudown-a/ select ok.
or u can go to run/services.msc/ok/remote procedure call services/recovery/restart the computer/restart the services/ok

Hello molle and everyone. I have had the lsass.exe file on my computer (lower case) since 2001 when it was installed.. On the properties page its says it is a Microsoft file..Just wanted to get that straight..Never had a problem..Thanks

i have done a bit of study on this and all you need to do is run at least sp 1 For xp this will fix the problem it is not the worm i have had the sasser worm and virus scanners pick it up they may not fix it but still pick it up norton has a manual removel tool for it http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sasser.b.worm.html
