Ok..this is the thing..I believe I have the sasser virus. I used the sasser removal tool from microsoft website & even from the symantec website = both says no infection detected, but the thing is the message "LSA Shell (Export Version) keeps popping up after i reboot or something...any suggestions would be helpful

Try a general registry cleaning; can't harm anything. Did you turn off System Restore when you cleaned the PC?

One thing comes to mind. Since there are nearly a half-dozen variations of Sasser, it's possible one (or both) of the removal tools is not up to date. During the early part of May, Symantec alone released 4-5 updated utilities.

Also, make sure you have the latest "patch" from Microsoft. After I got rid of Sasser, I still received the exact same message you're getting until I ran the update from MS.
I think that Sasser, or the removal of it, damages the system files related to LSA and the update repairs them. I have no proof of this, but this has been the case on several systems I've worked on.

thanks all..i already updated all before hand...i did the system restore uncheck & it worked fine; i re-ran all tests & applied latest patches once again; workign fine
