low memory problem

when i try to open a windown when im on the net it wont allow me to do it - and i cant access windows media player or real player or any of my exe files - it says low memory the reference blah blah could not be read .
can anyone help me if so can u make it easy for me to understand

How much memory are you running? Is the 1 gig above your processor or your memory?

i think what its trying to say is that you have low memory, probably where the low memory stuff comes from. wanna solve it, youre probably not running xp on a good enough machine. or possibly a virus.
