hi, i was testing my new internet connection so i left it open overnight and was running the programs flashget and mirc, then the next morning, something weird happened, the free space in my drive C went bigger but the my drive D suddenly got full... what could have posibly has gone wrong? i checked all files in D and it is supposed to be only 7 gb, but it is saying 10 gb, and when i look at it in diskeeper, it shows the free space is 35gb... i already scanned for viruses but i have no virus detected

Are you using McAfee ?
Mcafee has a temporary hotfix for this problem on their website until their next build is released.

9) Sudden Drop In Disk Space

i think the problem is on the system restore... i checked it out and it consumed 2gb of space in my drive d... so how do i minimize the size of it?
in the properties of system restore, i already lowered the tab to the 1 step before the minimum for system restore for drive d:

Is XP on C ?
If so , D should be set to > Turned Off .
I have my C set to 243mb .

i turned it off just now... but the space it occupied is still there, is it safe to delete? and reclaim my 2 gb?

Yes , as long as you have set C drive to restore .
And even if C drive has'nt been saving , it will begin to do so from now on .

HELP D is full again!... system volume information has been saving huge files on my d: drive again... how do i stop this? i already turn it off...

As a temp measure , turn off all restore & see what happens .
