My daughter lost her startup cd. I mailed her one of mine. She says it asks for a product key. How does she find her product key? Will any XP Cd work for her?
This will you allow you to use another cd to load the system.

Companies like HP and Dell sell replacement startup CDs.
If the CD was a retail one then Microsoft will not replace it with another retail one but might sell you a CD at a cost a lot lower than the cost of a retail one.
My copy of XP Pro Upgrade became unusable do to scratches. For $30 Microsoft sent me one of their "Not for retail or OEM distribution" CDs. It was better than forking out another $200.
