I lost my Security Tab in the Internet Options menu...
Yes I have XP pro.
Yes my HD is NTFS.
Yes the Simple file sharing setting is unchecked. Are there other possibilities?
Anything related to "Window Washer", deleted "Downloaded Program Files" or some manual input in the regedit?I noticed this problem when going to YouTube and suddenly, it ask me if I had latest Flash (which I do) of Javascript turned on...

Well... I actually just got on that post, and I did do the Regedit "NoSecurityTab" thing... guess what? It was already at 0, meaning I SHOULD see the Security tab...
But nooooooooo. Still got the problem, damn computers sometimes!
So... what now?

This worked for some people on another site.
PROBLEM: Internet Options under Tools on Internet Explorer is changed and the General Tab is no longer present. To repair this issue you must fix a data value in the registry. To do this do the following.
CLICK START BUTTON > CLICK ON RUN & type in regedit > this will take you to your registry, where you have to go to repair the issue.
Once there, on the left side there go to the following...
Click on HKEY_CURRENT_USER
then click on Software
then click on Policies
then click on Microsoft
Then click on Internet Explorer
and then click Control Panel. You will see three entries in this area, they are.....(default) REG_SZ & Programs Tab_REG-DWRORD & General Tab REG-DWORD. To the right of these there is a section with #'s in it referred to as "Data". The Data associated with the General Tab should read 0x00000000 (0)... if that data has a 1(one) instead of a 0 (zero) you need to change that data value back to 0 (zero). To do that do this..... right click on General Tab.........click modify.... make sure here is a dot in Hexadecimal selecting it....and the number to the left under (Value Data) change that number to a 0 (zero). Close the registry edit. After you do this the Internet Option under Tools will be normal again.

And this.
Look for the key "SecurityTab" in these areas of your registry and delete it or change the value to zero:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel]

Well well well...
I've found this key in the registry:
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control PanelIt was set to 1, so I've set it back to 0 and now my tab is back...
HOWEVER!
I've done what was told to enable back my Javascript, but everything was alright.... I still can't get the videos from YouTube to play...
I strongly believe I have deleted some "Downloaded Program Files"... and that is why it doesn't work anymore.
Can anyone (with YouTube working of course) give me the list of Downloaded Prg Files they have? (It's in C/Win/) Comparing both lists could give me a hint in which one I've accidently deleted...
Mines are: Shockwave ActiveX Control, MetaStreamCtl Class, Java Runtime Environnement 1.4.2, and some {33564D57-...} thing.

Go here and run the tool and reinstall shockwave. Stay away from regseeker as it kills shockwave. http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowle...

Ah!!!... Thanks for this answer, it must have been that. I did the uninstall/reinstall before I saw your answer.
It did the trick... however, I don't recall seing anything called regseeker? Is this a spyware?

No, it is a very popular registry cleaner that many people recommend but has recently been killing the newer shockwave.

no, it's a registry cleaner. excellent piece of software. but there are issues with flashplayer9 when set to automatic cleaning. however, a reg fix for that can be found inside regseekers installation directory.
Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'
