No it doesn't. Have been trying to find a way to use a usb boot. Do you know how I could set this up.
Trying to fix a laptop.

ummm... if you can't use usb boot option your choices are rather limited...

Any prospect of replacing duff internal cd/dvd-rom unit?

And to do that you remove drive from laptop and connect to another working system via a suitable adapter. Usb-EIDE (and SATA) adapters are readily available "out there" for not too many pennies... Then follow instructions as above... Initially create the OS installation folders/files on the drive when connected to that other system; then restore drive to laptop and continue on from there?
