Comment:

during an attempt to update my HP 300n/NEC ND-1100A 4X DVD R/RW optical drive, my dog came up and bumped the restart button on my pc. After the pc restarted, it seems that there is no supporting software at all for my dvd burner. In MY COMPUTER it only says cd drive (F: ). How would I go about getting the ORIGINAL software for this? I've went to hp.com and downloaded any of the available drivers and updates but they all say that they require the original software. Any hwlp would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

Does your CD/RW work?
I would have thought that it uses generic drivers.

What were you updating? The burner software? The firmware? If it is the burner software you should either have the disks or it should be an a restore partition on your HDrive. Does the drive read both CDs and DVDs?

yikes! it sounds like you were updating your firmware at the time of the incodent. If your firmware was corrupted durring the update, you might as well go buy a new drive. =(

Set the DVD region, in properties... Its a pot shot but hey... if your updating drivers logicaly it would reset that.

if it was a firmware update try reflashing, if it wasn't/wont reflash... likely a driver problem/its hose
