Lost My Taskbar and Desktop Icons

Ok i got this comp maybe six months ago and at first had stupid lil probs with it but then i got it running fine. YESTERDAY tho i was downloading and my screen went blank and in order to run anything i have to hit ctrl alt delte the got o file and run a program I ran my norton no viruses were found i restarted in safe mode snd the icons and stuff started blinkng my exploere.exe wont stay running i tried turning it on manually and im still having the same problem NOW My task mananger lost the option to run fills I CANT DO ANYTHING!!! luckily i had my IE on before it decided to do this lol PLEASE HELP i cant download anything and run it either cuase it wont load any helpp would be greatly appreciated thanks Nikki

i looked before i postedand i downloaded one of the things that somebody said to download but now my task manager wont even give me an option to run a new task o giess there isnt anything i can do :( thanks

I'm having a similar problem on my "dinosaur" laptop. Only I can see the taskbar and the icons if I log in on the other account, but I can't access any of my files (music) and I really need to retrieve those files (or back up my files) so I can attempt a system restore (which probably won't work anyway). Any ideas because a computer can't really function without these elements. CTRL+ALT+DEL feature keeps freezing the laptop.
