Lost my Gateway laptop system recovery disk

April 19, 2011 at 12:05:24
Specs: Windows XP
I have an MP8708 laptop that I use as a secondary work computer. I recently got the "Blue Screen of Death". I took it to our local Office Depot and they recovered the files. I am now in process of trying to recover the laptop. I went to get my recovery disk and couldn't find it. I gave away severl old computers to Goodwill over the holidays and I'm guessing that disk got attached to one of them and sent off. How do I proceed? Anyone have any suggestions?

I have done the F11 deal at startup, but it asks for the disk there as well.

Gateway will be glad to sell you another CD.

Did you have a new hard drive installed? If not, then F11 should get your to the recovery partition.

If Office Depot deleted the recovery partition then you may have a complaint with them.

I'm in roughly the same boat. My daughter has a MX6920 that lost the disk. I have located two vendors that sell the recovery media. One is www.restoredisks.com, the other is www.restorediscsplanet-usa.com. Both say they have yours. I haven't ordered from either yet, but unless she can find her recovery media, I will be trying one of them.
