About 50% of the time, XP will not connect to the internet after cold startup. (DNS server not available) Same problem before on another computer with 98SE & Me. If I repair the network bridge, then it works fine. With 98SE & Me if I renewed all within "winipcfg" all worked fine.

Try reinstalling the drivers and just connect it to the cable modem not the router and see what happens.

I have (had) the same issues. Everytime I did a cold startup Internet access didn't work. If I then did a plain reboot it worked fine. I got very tired of it, but I learned to life with it.
But, after I was going to use Remote Desktop so I could access my computer from school which used Unix then I have to have a password for my Admin user. So now everytime I start my computer here I have to enter the password I used (can so this automaticly with Tweak XP though). Just because of this my Internet connection works after cold starts. I don't know why, but it does.
