I have downloaded an iTunes update, having previously created a restore point. when I try to use system restore to go back to pre-update position I get a message which says unable to do this. Although I am inexperienced with computers I have previously successfully used this function the last time being 4 February. System Restore lets me create restore points but cannot restore to any of them. Can anyone help me to overcome the problem please?

This tip worked for me
When I try to use System Restore in XP, I click a date, but it tells me I cannot restore. How do I fix this?
A:
So, you're trying to use the XP System Restore feature, but get the message: "Cannot restore the computer to an earlier restore point, no changes have been made to your computer." Am I right? Well, I can't tell you how to get your old restore points back, but I can tell you how to fix this problem so you can use them in the future.
Right click on the My Computer icon, choose Properties, then click on the System Restore tab.
Put a check in the box for "Disable Restore on all drives." Click OK and reboot your computer. After you reboot, go back to the System Restore tab and uncheck the box. Click OK.
Next, go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools and then click System Restore. Choose Create a Restore Point and give it a name like Reset as a reminder.
Now, go ahead and try to use the restore again, using the new point and it should work properly for you this time
