Looking for USRwmdmM.hlp file for WinXP

Specs: Windows XP
While trying to install a Linksys WiFi card (Specifically a PCMCIA Wireless A+G adapter), I keep receiving a Windows error that it cannot find USRwmdmM.hlp file. The installation will not finish without this file.

READ the installation instructions !

It's probably the same situation as with a USB wireless network adapter - you install the sofware for it BEFORE you plug it in !

If you DID follow the instructions, the file it wants is probably on the CD or DVD that came with it - point Windows to where it is.

Actually, I followed the instructions exactly. Yes, I checked the install CD, Windows directory (including sub folders) and the WInXP install CD's just for good measure. I even did a file search on all of the above. In fact, I did a file search on two other systems I have running WinXP. No joy.

PCMCIA is very outdated technology, and judging from the A & G protocols, it probably came out in the early 2000's. Do you really have an installer CD for XP or for an older operating system?

You can get fairly cheap USB wireless cards that would blow away that old card as far as performance goes and would be well worth the investment vs. the headache you are going through trying to install that card.

Are you sure you spelled USRwmdmM.hlp right ?

Obviously. USRwmdmM.hlp is NOT built into XP

Anything that first came out after circa 2001 probably cannot be on the CD.

If you're using the RIGHT CD that came with it, there may be drivers for more than one model on the CD - make sure you chose the right model.

We can't help you further unless you provide the Model of the adapter.

If you don't know what it is.....
