I hope I can adequately explain my problem. I am on a network and when I upgraded to xp I put my network password on and is connected automatically. I also put in a separate user name and password for computer startup. everything works fine. Now I received a message that my login password will expire in 13 days. Ours are good for 45 days. No problem. The problem is when I hit the button to change password it brings up the user login name and password which is not what is being used for network login. I probably set things up wrong. In any case, I need to access the automatic network login screen so that I can change the network password. I hope that someone can help. I have accessed the archives for login and no help. In advance, Thanks John

I'm just a little concerned why no one has responded to my problem other than
"try safemode". I was really hoping to get some intelligent answers or at least a little more help. If this is not the correct forum or if the problem as explained is not understandable then please say so. I am still hoping for some help. Thanks

You can configure Windows XP to automate the logon process if your computer is not part of a domain.
Click Start, click Run, and type "control userpasswords2" without the quotes.
Clear the Users must enter a username and password to use this computer check box.
Click Apply.
Enter the user name and password you wish to automatically log on with, and then click OK.
Click OK again and you're all done.
This feature allows other users to start your computer and use the account that you establish to automatically log on. Enabling auto logon makes your computer more convenient to use, but can pose a security risk. You must have admin privileges to make these changes. Also, check out this link and you may have to copy and paste it into a browser. Upon getting to this link, scroll down and look for secondary login.
