Ok I have windows XP and a brother. I put a password on the adminestrator account so he could not get on this computer. the adminestrator account is my account that I use for everyday things. Well when I let him use this he downloaded imesh and a lot!!! of adware and got viruses. So Then I put the password up. Well now I found out he is still able to get on it. He doesent know my password but he pushes f8 on startup and then chooses, safemode with command promp. HE then types something in the command prompt and it beeps and restarts or something. And before you know it hes in my account!! He even changed my password and download files like crazy!! I gave him the guest account but he dont like it and wont use the other dial-up account on the other comp.
So my main question is How does he always get in it with the command prompt and how can I stop this?? I run a virus scanner and ad-ware remover when hes on and always find new stuff. Please help thanks!
p.s. It must be soemthing simple cause hes only 13!! Not no major hackor or anything

There is a boot disk you can download at:
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.htmlthat will let you reset the password of any account on NT4, Windows2000 or XP.
Just follow all the default settings which are for the admin account. Used it many
times with great success.

lol sounds like a clever little brother to me :-P
Have you checked the floppy A:\ drive, he might be using the boot disk that Robbie has mentioned.
ER4S3R.

My recommendations would severly breach human rights so I copied this off another forum:
The best way I found for eliminating the temptation to mess with the startup without disabling your emergency access options is to change the timeout on the boot menu so that the system zips right by it so fast that the menus don't display. To do this enable the viewing of hidden and system files. Find the file c:\boot.ini in Explorer and turn off the Read-Only attribute. Then open the file in Notepad. Change the line that reads timeout=30 to read timeout=1. Save the file and turn the Read-Only attribute back on.Now the system will zip by the boot menu so fast that it usually never gets the chance to display (in my experience, mileage will vary) and therefore discourage looky-loos. But if you need to access the menu then you can pound on the down arrow key at boot to suspend the timeout. It takes some good timing, but at least you will have the option open to you and the common user won't bother with it unless they are determined to muck about in the system. But then, you really can't do much with those people anyway.

The problem is that all he has to do is tap the f8 key to get to safe mode as soon as he boots the pc.

Ok if we assume he is booting from a floppy (as yet unproven !) password protect the BIOS and choose a boot sequece that doesn't involve the floppy - like to know how he is doing it though !!!

NO! hes not using anything. Just going to the command prompt. Idk what he types in there tho.

Perhaps this is one way around the password:

yes Yes YES!! M, you found out how he did it. He typed that in and then changed the password. Now the last thing left is maby how can I diable the F8 button or something!! PLEASE you guys are so close!! we gotta do it!!
P.S. Whoever figures it out gets a big chocolate chip cookie. Freshly baked!!
