I have a Windows 2000 Server SE as the Domain Controller. Most of the client computers that login to the Domain are running either Windows NT 4.0 SP6 or Windows XP. I've just recently added a Windows 2003 Server on the network as a stand alone server which is a member of the existing domain. Ever since then my Windows XP computers are having trouble authenticating to the domain. It sometimes takes three or four reboots before the client PC can login to the domain controller. The problem does not seem to affect the Windows NT PCs. I would rather not promote this Win 2003 Server to a Domain Controller and have it processing logon requests. How do I stop this Win 2003 server from trying to process logon requests? or Is the problem maybe something else entirely?

You could try the Win2k3 Forum.. Maybe someone there can tell you why the 2003 server is trying to process the logins...

I personally think that wasn't fair ccfrank and jennifer.
The post clearly states that the "xp" computers have the problem, NOT the Win2k computers. Also it looked to me like a log in problem also, so I believe this was correctly posted.
Maybe a suggestion to ask the network forum for a better solution, would've been more polite than the blunt reply given.
I don't mean to offend, but that's how i saw it.

okay yodadude1.. if you have the answer answer the question! I didn't say it was a 2k issue i said they might get better response in the networking forum than in the winxp forum! since it was a networking login problem. Go Figure?

yoda, Please re-read my post. Did you even read the original question? The problem started when the 2k3 machine was added.
