Guys, this is Win XP PRO. What is in my computer? It looks fine when I login, but on start up there is no desktop, and even in safemode no text appears. I can get into task manager, and sometimes when I open a program the desktop will suddenly appear as well, but it is random. There are certain programs that won't open, including norton antivirus. I can click, there is no error, it just doesn't open. I try getting into my admin or add/remove programs and have no access as well. What next? As well, if I ever reinstall WIN XP, will it erase my personal files on the computer? What if I use the recover disc, will it remove my personal files? Is this a virus? I get a lot of pop ups on Internet Explorer so I don't use it anymore. I would say that you have malware on your computer. Download, install and run Malwarebytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org/ After that, if you are still experiencing problems, post the problem in Specialty Forums/Security and Virus (top left hand side of this page). They should be able to resolve the problem for you.
