Logging On At Welcome Screen

When I attempt to log on at welcome screen, there is no cursor to typr password. I have to reboot to get a cursor to log in with password. What is wrong?

I haven't changed the cursors and in fact to limit the resourses I use the default. But because we are talking about Windows, I will try the suggestion and let you know if it works. Thanks for the response!

You can also press Ctrl+Alt+Delete (two or three times) to bring up the box where you can type in your username and password.
