Hi;
My son has been on my computer, downloading a few things, etc. (always a risk, right!)and it seems that as a result, there have been a couple of cosmetic (hopefully) changes that I'd like to correct.
1) One is the sudden appearance of a login box, which I never had before, but based on some searches here, I think I'm okay with getting rid of that.
2) The next one is about logging off. In the past, when I clicked on Start and then Shutdown, I would be presented with simply 3 "buttons", two of which were "shutdown" and "restart" (can't remember the third). Now I have a dialogue box, with a dropdown menu. It's really only cosmetic, but I'm used to the 3 buttons, and would at least like to know how to get back to that look and feel.
3) Lastly is the whole idea of user accounts. Again, when trying to get the machine back to how it was before, I was wondering if my son set up a separate account for himself, so looked that up. In there are three accounts:
- my own
- one called a "guest account"
- and a third that I can't remember it's title, but has a racecar icon associated with it.
My question about this is, under normal circumstances what should be in that folder? Can those other "accounts" be deleted safely?

Thanks for listening!

Cheers!

The guest account is usually disabled by default. There is no reason to delete it. The account with the race car is probably what he created. Each account has a separate profile associated with it, which is the way it's supposed to be.

You can change the login and logoff in the control panel under user accounts but I suggest that, if you have the money, buy a separate computer for yourself.

Too (two) many users on one PC always presents problems.

Thanks Guapo;
As far as the "racecar account", he says that he didn't create a new account,....at least that he's aware of. So not sure where or when that might have been created, since I'd never looked in there before, and I didn't create it. He doesn't live at home, but was here over the weekend, hence his useage. So no need to buy a new one!
When you say that - "You can change the login and logoff in the control panel under user accounts",.....what exactly do you mean by "change"?
Thanks!

If you go to user accounts in the control panel, there is an option if you want the welcome screen or the login box. It says Change the way users login......

As you said, it's really cosmetic in your case but that's where you can change it.
