Same problem as kawagama dated November 13, 2004. I have Windows XP Home edition and on Saturday November 13, I started having problems logging on to the windows log in screen. As soon as the password is entered the computer starts to load, but then changes as if i had just choosen to shut down. Theres not even split second before goes from starting up to logging off. I've tried loading in safe mode but the same thing happens. As a result i can't access my computer or its startup options. Is it a virus? what should i do? Same problem!!!!! Should microsoft hot line be called?

To have XP display the error message instead of rebooting:
1. Click Start, and then right-click My Computer.
2. Click Properties.
3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
4. Under System failure, click to clear the Automatically restart check box.
5. Click OK, and then click OK.

I can not get to the desk top start-up screen. Windows XP keeps logging me off. I
was told by Sony, that since Windows XP was pre-installed, I would have to should recovery cd's and loss all my info on the hard drive. I was told by Microsoft which costed me $35 that I could re-install if I had a XP CD. However, I was told my a college that I could run into product key code problems. I need to keep my data on my hard and I'm at a lost on what to do. Any suggestions???? Thanks Ya!!!evelyn

ok you will need to do a repair instalation of Xp. use the XP instalation CD and click to instal XP whne you getpast the usuer agrememt have tit do a repair Install.
that will get you onto oyur system for a period of time. if oyu have nortons system works 2005 ( that is what I used others might work) have it run a system scan. there will be about 558 erros in your system registry that can be fixed.
when those are fixed your system will still restart if left along but it will not forcfully log you back out
if life gives you lemons shut up and eat your damn lemons
