Log off fault

Specs: Windows XP
When logging off, blank screen and only way to log back on is to shut the machine using on/off button

Download and install MS UPH Clean from here (the msi file).


That should automatically close any program that is hanging in future but, unfortunately, it is unlikely to tell you which one it is. It's useful to have onboard anyway and uses minimal resources.

Note that this is ubsuitable for XP 64 bit but as you didn't say I just had to assume yours was 32 bit.

Wordex, SWAG, FWIW, Windows seems to have had shutdown problems since release. I use a standalone proggie for shutdown and have placed an icon shortcut to it in my quicklauch (for convenience). It's called 'Slawdog' and they claim it works with all versions of Windows. Get it free @:
