Locking up

OS: 98 and XP
CPU/Ram: Athlon, 655 SD

My computer locks up for no apperent reason. Usally when I play a game but some times when I'm doing up my cd burner light comes on and my computer active light comes on and justs shuts down and turns off my monitor. Whats up?

sounds like a heat problem
check the cpu fan, leave the cover off the case, blow a roomfan into the computer, see if the freeze goes away
