I did not activate windows xp and I got locked out of it. A popup comes up on the screen and ask me if I want to activate windows now. I click on yes and it takes me back to the same screen that asks me if I want to activate windows. I tried to put the hard drive into another computer to get my files off it, but I cannot get into my folder. Is there anyway to get into the folder??? I really need help.

One way of doing it is to download the ISO image of Knoppix CD http://www.knoppix.net/get.php You need to be on broadband as it is a massive 700mb but it is really useful.Transfer it to a CD there is more info on the site (see link)
This is a linux OS on CD set your PC to boot from the CD this will install the OS using your RAM and doesn't touch your hard drive.
But it will let you access ie read your Hardrive and there is a CD burning program so you can burn your files to CD.
It has got me out of a few scrapes. It is a bit of a learning curve to figure at first but you should be able to figure it out.

Matthew,
Try login in as administrator from safemode...
joh-boi,
Recommending Linux for a problem like this is a bit "off the wall". If you install windows in a different folder on that same drive you will be able to read the contents of the drive, when backing up or retrieving data the last thing you wanna do is learning about it @ the same time.

Is the Xp drive ntfs? If so that may very well be your problem. Check and see if you can change the file/folder permissions to allow yourself access to your files. I doubt you will be able to as I think you have to logged on to your account to change your permissions.
If the above doesn't work you may be able to put your drive into another pc and use Partition magic to convert the drive back to fat32. Doing this would remove all file permissions and should let you at your files. I have not tried this (for file recovery) but I am pretty sure it will work. Maybe someone else will have more to say on the topic.
Good Luck,
Sandman
