Hey, I have the same problem as this guy long time ago had here: http://www.computing.net/answers/wi...
On my laptop I have single account (only administrator) on XP Professional. My story starts like that when I added computer into workgroup which I gave name "MSHOME", than I had to insert admin password o_O, but for a try I typed it incorrectly... than XP restarted and when I want to log in Windows there was a message that the password is not correct. So, is there any sollution? Any practic advise? I hope to fast hearing from you, because I really fast need this computer working.
Thank you.

Try googling the following phrase"administrator password recovery"
You will get plenty of suggestions and options
Tim

Be sure you are trying to log into the machine as a local user.
Start by making a limited user account. Never use admin unless you are doing admin stuff.
ophc rack live maybe.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Use a Password Reset Disk or OPHCRACK to get rid of password. Never put a password on a computer in the future unless you really need to like for Remote Desktop and stuff.
