OS: xp pro version 5.1.2600
CPU/Ram: core 2 duo/ o.99gb
Product: Windows / 2002 VERSION 5.1.2600
Comment:

I couldn't open my local drives by double clicking on it, it says, "resycled\boot.com is not a valid win32 application". So when I right click, the first option is autoplay followed by open and explore. When I choose to open it says "D:\ is not a valid win32 application" and the same for all the other drives. However explore and windows explorer works fine. Please give me a remedy.

try this--
Click Start, then RUN, then type
regsvr32 /i shell32
Note the space between 2 and /, & i and s
------------------
That will fix a problem where clicking a drive, or folder, will open Windows Search.
May fix your problem a well.

spyware, antivirus scans? You appear infected. Run chkdsk /f at a cmd prompt to test for file system integraty.

Example of Oxymoron:
Person who is pro life and anti sex education.
Education is key to prevention. Prevent conception you prevent abortion. Abstinence training clearly isn't working.

Disk Heal according to its maker is meant for correcting disk problems created by the virus or/and Trojans which remain even after the successful removal of the malicious programs. That is to say to cure the aftermaths of infected and cured computer. Just thought it would be helpful to anyone who has got some disk related issues.

I had the same problem, antivirus detected a worm/trojan, and when booting up the computer wouldn't complete the O/S (XP) load before shutting down and rebooting constantly. So i fitted a spare hard drive, loaded it up and tried to clean the C:\ drive with the D:\ drive. Whenever i double clicked either drive i got C:(or D:)\resycled\boot.com is not a valid win32 application.
Freeware Disk Heal v1.48 fixed it and all appears to be back to normal now.
