I have a DNS problem. Basically, the system cannot resolve domain names.
It can contact hosts given an IP address just fine, but when given a URL it immediately (i.e. doesn't timeout or anything) returns a 'host could not be found' error.

ipconfig /displaydns says it can't show the DNS Resolver cache, however ipconfig /flushdns says the cache was successfully flushed.

I've made sure the DNS client has been started.
There are no DNS issues when running in safe mode.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you have described a problem but none of the setup you have that may have lead to it.

Give a person a fish you feed them for a day.
Ask a person to internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

I have no idea what may have lead to it (other than malware). I have no idea what would be pertinent to this problem.

One minute everything was working fine and then DNS stopped working (whilst I was browsing).

I forgot to mention that curiously, NSLOOKUP is able to translate domain names.
