Hi,
I'd like to be able to run a domain name server on one computer which the LAN router (WRT54G) would always use to convert a URL to an IP. Basically like a 'HOSTS' file, but for the whole network.
In other words, suppose there are 5 computers on the network, and there is a domain named 'dontgothere.com', and someone typed this, would it be possible to have that name first consult with a small DNS server running on one of the computers, and it would direct the person to a page which is completely *not* the original URL...
Right now I tried TreeWalk and something called DNS Plus, and I pointed the router to use this IP as its DNS servers... The thing is I dont see how I could manually set things with TreeWalk or the other one. They seem to just want to 'cache' the resolutions for quicker access only...
Does anyone have any idea about this?
In short: suppose you want that no one on your network should be able to access a certain site (or set of sites), but instead, when they type those sites they should be directed to another site completely...
Thanks a lot,
LarryPS- With TreeWalk, the router seems to in fact be using it as its DNS server, but I dont see how to manually input such settings...
